Re: HMS Plymouth
The sad thing is when I spoke to the harbour master who showed me around he said he thinks it will go for scrap soon unless a miracle happens. I asked when? and he mentioned that the dry dock in Liverpool has a ship in it being dismantled now and when thats done, Plymouth will probably go in to be cut up. He mentioned it is very sad that nobody can find a home for it and was particularly concerned as all the artifacts are still onboard and if the ship goes for scrap they would only go in the bin.. insane!
I mentioned that I could never understand why it's owner, Peel, would never move the ship to New Brighton and run it there as an attraction, the New Brighton Sea Cadets would benefit and also the local schools but he said Peel don't believe they could make a decent profit from it! I found this odd as surely this is the purpose that Plymouth would serve anywhere it goes?? |
